通灵(英语:Mediumship)是据称在死去人类的灵魂和活着的人类之间进行沟通的一种做法。从业者被称为灵媒或通灵者等(英语:medium 或 spirit medium)。[1][2]有许多类型的通灵媒介,包括通灵板、碟仙、起乩等。
尽管没有客观证据证明其存在,但对该现象的信念广泛存在[3]。[4]科学研究人员试图确定该些信念等声称的有效性。英国心理学会(英语:British Psychological Society)进行的一项实验得出的结论是,其研究对象没有表现出通灵能力。[5]
通灵板在 19 世纪流行起来,当时上层阶级使用通灵板作为娱乐的来源。在此期间的调查揭示了普遍存在的欺诈行为—一些从业者使用了舞台魔术师使用的技术—这种做法开始失去公信力。[6][7]欺诈在该领域中仍然很普遍。[8]
在全球各地,警方办案不时会与通灵技术发生关系;但是,法庭心理学者西伦·奥基夫(Ciarán O'Keeffe)根据针对该领域之长年研究指出,该技术无足够科学证据可证明其能提供对案情确定有帮助的证据,反而容易分散调查资源,延迟办案进度。
