Wollumbinia （不合法名）[2]

宽胸癞颈龟属（学名：Myuchelys）是蛇颈龟科下的一个属，该属的龟主要栖息东部和北部澳大利亚以及新几内亚的巴布亚省。而又多分布在所分布河流的支流和源头，其学名Myuchelys的来由是土著语Myuna，意即净水。[1]该属的龟有短颈，以及完全分离出咽部的咽盾。

分类学历史

1844年，该属下的贝氏癞颈龟被约翰·爱德华·格雷分到了南美洲的蟾头龟科下 ，[3] 直到1988年才被纠正。[4]贝林杰癞颈龟、宽胸癞颈龟和曼宁癞颈龟最初也都是在齿缘癞颈龟属下，后来才被测出属于不同的进化枝。[5][6]其中宽胸癞颈龟经过多次反复及斟酌才被划宽胸癞颈龟属。[7][8][9]

最早尝试将这些龟划到同一属的人也是约翰·爱德华·格雷（1867年），当时称作Euchelymys，[10]但是这个学名不久之后便被乔治·亚伯特·布兰洁（1889年）定为了齿缘癞颈龟属的同义词，[11]1929年被W·A·林霍尔姆永久弃用。[12]

1897年，查理斯·沃尔特·德·维斯尝试将其分入新属Pelocomastes下，[13]但是随后便被认为这样做不正确，此学名也被定为齿缘癞颈龟属的次异名。[14]

所谓的Wollumbinia是罗伯特·威廉·威尔斯在2007年建立的，[15]然而其论文违反了国际动物命名法规第8、9条协议以及荐则8D，[7][16]因而被判为不合法名。 [7][16][17]现在的学名Myuchelys是2009年确定的。[1]

曼宁癞颈龟则在2013年被发现仍然是并系群，因此提出了一个新的单系群的属来处理此问题，所以曼宁癞颈龟被分到被描述的这一个新属Flaviemys属，成为Flaviemys属底下唯一的物种曼宁癞颈龟（学名：Flaviemys purvisi）。
